For a 1 kW system, the central government subsidy is ₹30,000. For 2 kW, it’s ₹60,000. For 3 kW and above, it maxes out at ₹78,000. These are direct subsidies deposited into your bank account after the installation is verified by the distribution company. Apply through pmsuryagarh.gov.in or directly with PSPCL — they handle the coordination for Chandigarh and Punjab residents.
After that ₹78,000 subsidy, a 3 kW system that costs ₹1.5–₹2 lakh before subsidy comes down to ₹70,000–₹1.2 lakh out of pocket. Payback in 4–5 years at current electricity tariffs. Every year after that is pure savings.
Companies Worth Considering
Luminous has the widest dealer network in Chandigarh and Panchkula. Installation quality varies by dealer rather than by brand, so ask specifically who will do the actual installation and what their experience level is. A poorly installed system with good panels underperforms a well-installed system with average panels. The mounting, wiring, and inverter configuration matter.
Tata Power Solar charges more than most, and the premium is justified in panel quality and warranty terms. Twenty-five year panel warranty, strong customer service network. If you’re planning to be in the property long-term and want the lowest lifetime cost, the higher upfront investment makes sense.
Su-Kam, based in Chandigarh originally, has local roots that translate to responsive after-sales service. For problems that arise post-installation — inverter issues, monitoring queries — having a service team physically nearby is underrated.
Loom Solar has grown significantly in the tricity market. Their mono PERC panels perform well in Punjab’s sun conditions and the price is competitive. Good middle-ground option.
Zirakpur’s GT Road has several local solar dealers with competitive pricing, but verify their MNRE empanelment before buying. Only empanelled vendors qualify for the subsidy — this is non-negotiable.
